One of the major contributors to energy wastage in compressed air systems is operating air systems at elevated pressures.
It is well known that compressed air which is stored at higher pressures, can provide a capacitance effect for sudden high volume demands. It is also the case that higher pressure storage, that is not properly controlled and managed, will result in unnecessary energy consumption in order to deliver the higher pressure (0.5% energy for every 1% pressure increase), as well as higher air consumption from all compressed air users on the system.
The introduction of the Ingersoll Rand IntelliFlow controller intelligently uses system storage to fulfill high, random air usage and thereby removes the requirement to increase the entire system pressure.
